1b8a54024c Android: Expand bottom sheets on devices with touch too
In a few places in Dolphin, we're using BottomSheetDialogFragments.
These unhelpfully tend to start out in a "collapsed" state when in
landscape mode (presumably depending on factors like screen size). The
user then has to manually expand them before they can meaningfully
interact with them.

We've been automatically setting BottomSheetDialogFragments to the
expanded state if the device Dolphin is running on doesn't support
touch, since with d-pad navigation it's impossible to expand these
sheets. But I think we should set them to expanded on devices that
support touch too. I haven't encountered a single case where you can do
anything useful with any of Dolphin's BottomSheetDialogFragments while
they're collapsed, so the user always has to expand sheets manually if
they start out collapsed. And just because a device supports touch
doesn't necessarily mean you're interacting with it through the touch
screen right now - you could be using a gamepad, for instance.

5c7e8db26e Android: Opt out of back invoked callback
When 9d9b6d8 changed our target SDK version to Android 16, it made
Android 16 stop calling onBackPressed and stop delivering KEYCODE_BACK
events. Dolphin's code isn't ready for that yet.

Android lets us opt out of this new behavior for now, so let's do so.
But the opt-out will presumably stop working once we start targeting
Android 17, so we're going to have to update Dolphin's code within the
next one or two years to support the replacement API.

e2e33becc9 Android: Detect GCAdapter connection using BroadcastReceiver
We can register a BroadcastReceiver to have Android tell us when a GC
adapter gets connected instead of having a loop where we continuously
call SleepCurrentThread(1000) and poll the current status. When waiting
for a GC adapter to connect, this both reduces power usage and improves
responsiveness.

Note that I made openAdapter get the UsbDevice that's been stored by the
hotplug code instead of having openAdapter find the UsbDevice on its own
like before. This is only because I want to ensure that the UsbDevice
being tracked for disconnection is the same as the UsbDevice actually
being used, in case the user has multiple adapters connected.

43b254aaad Android: Update advanced mapping dialog when devices change
Without this, there was a bug where if you turned the device's screen
off and on again while in the advanced mapping dialog, the input
indicators would stop updating. This is because turning the screen on
again causes devices to refresh, which causes all devices to be
recreated, leaving the AdvancedMappingControlViewHolders stuck
referencing controls belonging to devices that are no longer being
updated.

5d2518d490 Android: Add android.hardware.microphone to manifest
Google Play is now blocking distribution for Android TV unless we
explicitly set the android.hardware.microphone hardware feature as
android:required="false", because it's inferring
android.hardware.microphone from the android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO we
added for Wii Speak emulation, with android:required defaulting to true.
I was under the belief that setting android:required="false" on
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO would solve this, but looking closer at
the definition of <uses-permission>, it doesn't actually support
android:required attributes, so that presumably has no effect.

f99d3dbd5c Android: Ask system for optimal audio buffer size and sample rate
This can reduce audio latency according to
https://developer.android.com/ndk/guides/audio/opensl/opensl-prog-notes#perform.

Previously we were using the hardcoded values of 48000 Hz and 256 frames
per buffer. The sample rate we use with this change is 48000 Hz on all
devices I'm aware of, but the buffer size does vary across devices.

Terminology note: The old code used the term "sample" to refer to what
Android refers to as a "frame". "Frame" is a clearer term to use for
this, so I've changed OpenSLESStream's terminology. One frame consists
of one sample per channel.

eeae30e2bb Android: Don't dismiss AdvancedMappingDialog when pressing Clear
If you already have a mapping set in the advanced mapping dialog and
want to change it, the easiest way to do it is to press Clear and then

This commit makes it so the Clear button doesn't close the dialog.

832570c658 Core: Add VBI Frequency Override
This feature allows overriding the frequency of the Vertical Blank Interrupt. For many games, this means that their gameplay speed will change without affecting audio, which would be useful by itself (e.g. grinding in RPGs).

However, there are games that use delta time for their game logic, which allows them to be played at >60 FPS at the same gameplay speed!

Some games aren't dynamic though, and require a patch to adjust their game speed variable.

d64c20a67c Android: Fix incorrect ID in layout-ldrtl/list_item_mapping.xml
Probably a copy-paste error from layout-ldrtl/list_item_setting.xml.
This error made it so a long setting name could overlap with the
checkbox next to it if Dolphin was running with right-to-left layout.

The incorrect ID was apparently also causing the app:lintVitalRelease
build task to fail. I guess we're not running that build task, because I
only heard of this from someone building Dolphin locally.

I'm making this change because of a crash being reported in Google Play

sure if this commit fixes the crash, but I think this commit is
a reasonable change to make even if it doesn't fix the crash. Backtrace

3ed3fb05af Android: Allow reporting start to analytics for non-main activity
a1691a4 made it so analytics start events can only be generated when
starting the main activity. However, some users launch Dolphin's
emulation activity from a separate frontend application, bypassing
Dolphin's main activity. This change adjusts the logic so that start
events can be generated if any activity is started after 6 hours of
inactivity. This more closely matches the behavior we had before
a1691a4, while still ensuring duplicate start events aren't generated.

I've also fixed the inconsistent indentation in ActivityTracker.kt.

71f654c added a new platform in the middle of the C++ platform enum
without updating the corresponding Android code, making the Android code

To be able to add the new Triforce entry into the Platform enum without
it leading to the UI getting an additional tab, I'm splitting the enum
into Platform and PlatformTab. Platform now exactly matches the C++
enum (previously it excluded ELFOrDOL), and PlatformTab has the same
content as the old Platform.

a1691a4031 Prevent android generating duplicate analytics events
dolphin-start event was being generated twice for the normal
end-user case, as can be seen in analytics data for some years.
The problem occured when:
* Android reaped the process hosting the dolphin activity
  (e.g. for power/memory saving).
and
* Dolphin activity was in "stopped" state for > 6 hours before
  being switched back to.

Under above conditions, both calls to ReportStartToAnalytics
would be performed, as dolphin thought it was being launched anew,
and also thought it had been asleep for > 6 hours.

d0e6573ac7 Android: Use enableEdgeToEdge
Dolphin has been using edge-to-edge rendering for a little while now,
but it has required a bit of manual work. Now that edge-to-edge is
becoming something expected of apps in Android 15, there's a nicer API
we can use.

Tested on Android 8, 11 and 13, with no changes in behavior noted.

14a802b58b Android: Add 16 KiB page size support
So far, Dolphin hasn't been able to run on Android devices that use a
16 KiB page size. 16 KiB page sizes are a very new Android feature that
no phones have shipped with so far, so we're still compatible with the
phones that exist out there, but let's get this fixed before phones
start shipping with 16 KiB page sizes.

Because I couldn't get Android Studio's emulator to work, I haven't been
able to confirm that this change actually makes Dolphin fully compatible
with devices that use a 16 KiB page size. But I have confirmed that this
doesn't break anything on a regular 4 KiB page size device.

To fix the crash in input device sensor handling, we should look up

72cf2bdb87 Audit uses of IsRunning and GetState
Some pieces of code are calling IsRunning because there's some
particular action that only makes sense when emulation is running, for
instance showing the state of the emulated CPU. IsRunning is appropriate
to use for this. Then there are pieces of code that are calling
IsRunning because there's some particular thing they must avoid doing
e.g. when the CPU thread is running or IOS is running. IsRunning isn't
quite appropriate for this. Such code should also be checking for the
states Starting and Stopping. Keep in mind that:

* When the state is Starting, the state can asynchronously change to
  Running at any time.
* When we try to stop the core, the state gets set to Stopping before we
take any action to actually stop things.

This commit adds a new method Core::IsUninitialized, and changes all
callers of IsRunning and GetState that look to me like they should be
changed.

b9e11a3a35 Android: Adopt a new versionCode scheme
Right now, we assign a versionCode to each Android build of Dolphin by
counting the total number of git commits made. This has worked fine so
far, but it won't work as-is for the new release process.

Let's say we're currently on commit 20000. If we want to create a
release under the new release process, we would create a release branch,
add a new commit on it that updates the release name in CMake files and
so on, and create a tag for that commit. The Android build of this
release commit would get the version code 20001. However, the master
branch is also going to get a commit with the version code 20001 sooner
or later, and this commit would be an entirely different commit than
commit 20001 on the release branch. This isn't much of a problem for
people downloading Dolphin from dolphin-emu.org, but it's a big problem
for Google Play, as Google Play doesn't allow us to upload two builds
with the same version code.

This commit makes us calculate the Android version code in a new way:
The number of commits times two, and if the current build isn't a
release build, plus 1. (We check whether the current build is a release
build by checking whether there's a tag for the current commit.)

With this new version code scheme, the release commit described in my
example would get the version code 40002, and the master commit would
get the version code 40003. This lets us upload both corresponding
builds to Google Play, and also lets the user switch from the release
build to the development build if they would like to. (Under normal
circumstances, Android forbids installing a build with an older version
code than the currently installed build. Therefore, whether the 1 is
added for release builds or for development builds is a decision with
consequences.)

9ca9d073df Android: Fix race condition in displayAlertMsg
It was possible for sAlertMessageLock.notify() to be called before
sAlertMessageLock.wait(), causing Dolphin to deadlock. In particular,
this was guaranteed to happen if displayAlertMsg was called from the UI
thread while the emulation activity is being destroyed, because
runOnUiThread runs the passed-in anonymous function immediately when
called from the UI thread.

By replacing Object.wait/Object.notify with Semaphore.acquire/
Semaphore.release, it no longer matters what order the methods are
called in.

02deaa6748 Implement GC modem adapter
This implements the GameCube modem adapter. This implementation is stable but not perfect; it drops frames if the receive FIFO length is exceeded. This is probably due to the unimplemented interrupt mentioned in the comments. If the tapserver end of the connection is aware of this limitation, it's easily circumvented by lowering the MTU of the link, but ideally this wouldn't be necessary.

This has been tested with a couple of different versions of Phantasy Star Online, including Episodes 1 & 2 Trial Edition. The Trial Edition is the only version of the game that supports the Modem Adapter and not the Broadband Adapter, which is what made this commit necessary in the first place.

6cf55ab1ee InputCommon: Unify GetProfileName and GetProfileDirectoryName
After reading the previous commit, you might think "hold on, what's the
difference between GetProfileName and GetProfileDirectoryName"? These
two are being used for the exact same thing - figuring out where
profiles are stored - yet they return different values for certain
controllers like GC keyboards! As far as I can tell, the existing code
has been broken for GC keyboards since they were introduced a decade
ago. The GUI (and more recently, also InputCycler) would write and read
profiles in one location, and our code for loading profiles specified in
a game INI file would read profiles in another location.

This commit gets rid of the set of values used by the game INI code in
favor of the other set. This does breaking existing setups where a
GCKey profile has been configured in a game INI, but I think the number
of working such setups is vanishingly small. The alternative would make
existing GCKey profiles go missing from the profile dropdown in the GUI,
which I think would be more disruptive. The alternative would also force
new GCKey profiles into the same directory as GCPad profiles.

This commit also fixes a regression from d6c0f8e749. The Android GUI was
using GetProfileName to figure out what key to use in the game INI,
which made it use incorrect game INI entries for GameCube controller
profiles but not Wii Remote profiles. Now the Android GUI uses
GetProfileKey for this, fixing the problem.
